With most floor finishes suitable for use over under floor heating systems, JH Lidstone are able to at install floor finishes that meet your requirements whilst ensuring that they are suitable for an under floor heated surface. We can install suitable floor finishes for your under floor heating system, including:

  • Carpet
  • Timber
  • Laminate
  • Stone and Ceramic Tiles

Regularly used with under floor heating, most types of carpets are suitable but care must be taken when it comes to underlay. Using a thermal underlay isn’t a good idea as they don’t allow heat to pass through, effectively stopping the desired outcome. Measured in Tog values, carpets and underlays with low tog rating will be best for use with under floor heating as it will be easier for heat to pass through them.

Timber flooring

Suitable for use with under floor heating systems, Timber flooring can actually benefit from under floor heating. It’s important to ensure that the moisture content of the timber is below 10% before installations so that the floor doesn’t move as the timber goes through the drying process.

Laminate Flooring
Allowing good levels of heat output from the floor, laminate flooring is a popular choice as it is easy to install. You can install engineered timber which gives you the real wood finish without the cost.
Stone and ceramic tiles Good thermal conductors, stone and ceramic tiles are a great under floor heating floor covering option as they allow the heat to pass through the tile efficiently.
